Who We Are
We are a 501c3 non-profit feral cat spay & neuter clinic based in Cohocton, NY and serving the Southern Livingston and Northern Steuben County area. We help keep the feral/stray/abandoned cat population in check through the Trap-Neuter/Spay-Vaccinate-Return program.

Overpopulation
Overpopulation of wild and feral cats is a real issue, and we don't just mean for people. Thousands of cats are born due to over breeding. This causes a great deal of stress to cats' health and breeds diseases that can ultimately make them suffer.
How We Help
We work with you and others in our neighboring communities to systematically catch wild cats in a safe and humane way. We can then check the health of the animal, spay/neuter to reduce unchecked population boom, provide them with vaccinations that they would otherwise never have the chance to receive, and then release back into their environment.
Identification
All strays that are caught, treated, and re-released receive a standard type of identification marker. The ear of the animal is notched to indicate that they have already gone through a TNVR process. If the wild cats in your area have this type of notch, then rest assured that they will not be contributing to further overpopulation in your neighborhood.
Return
After cats have recovered, we return them back to the area where they were captured. While we do occasionally set up fosters or adoptions, our resources are limited, and we can have a greater impact on the health and safety of more animals by following the TNVR process.
What We Do
TNVR stands for Trap, Neuter/spay, Vaccinate, and Return. Explore these sections to understand the issue that wild cat populations are facing and what we are doing to help.
We are not a shelter or full service veterinary clinic. We hold clinics based on the availability of a few area vets outside of their normal work schedules and busy lives, and are so grateful for their dedication to help as often as they can. We hold clinics based on the weather, normally pausing between November and February. This is best for the cat's health and recovery post operatively.
A SINGLE FEMALE
1
Consider a single unspayed female cat in the wild.
ONE YEAR
12
That one female cat can have up to 3 litters of kittens in a year averaging about 4 kittens per litter.
TWO YEARS
144
If those 12 cats then produce another 12 each in the following year.
THREE YEARS
1,728
Without intervention and help, the numbers climb exponentially.
FOUR YEARS
20,736
In four short years the population can be completely overwhelming. Sadly, without help to limit the number of reproducing cats in the wild, they will ultimately struggle and suffer unnecessarily.

Who We Are
Barn Cat Outreach is a 501c3 non-profit organization that was founded by Mary Perkins Nisbet and Dr. Kim Wilson in the summer of 2009.
The name, Barn Cat Outreach, was developed specifically for our rural area. We have had these cats around us our whole lives. Locally, we call them barn cats. In cities, they are alley cats. Others simply call them strays. If they are wild and unsocialized, they are feral cats.
Mary Perkins Nisbet, a Licensed Veterinary Technician, and Dr. Kim Wilson, Veterinarian, have had genuine experience working with feral cats and at TNVR clinics. Both residents of rural Livingston County, they are well aware of the feral cat problem in our area and strive to assist local communities through Barn Cat Outreach.

How To Help
We are an officially registered 501c3 non-profit organization. It's only by your contributions that we are able to operate in our community and prevent the continued growth of the barn cat population. By supporting Barn Cat Outreach, you're helping us stop the births of numerous kittens that may end up dying of starvation and disease.
